What is a Zero-Click Hack?
Zero-click hacks are those that can be executed without a single bit of voluntary action on behalf of the victim. For example, the 2019 WhatsApp breach allowed an attacker to take over the target’s cell phone by simply placing a call, without any action on the part of the call receiver. The hack resulted in WhatsApp filing a suit against NSO, the Israeli firm who created the spyware used in the hack, named “Pegasus”.
Pegasus exists not only for Android, but yes, the venerable iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) and allows hackers to collect large amounts of data from a smartphone with ease. It allows hackers to view text and email messages, track a user’s location, activate the camera and microphone and, read contact data, and more.
