Cybersecurity Worker Shortage
According to Gartner, not only are there millions of cybersecurity job openings, but there is no end in sight for filling them. Gartner rates the hiring difficulty for cybersecurity talent as a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. As cybersecurity is a branch of information technology, the latter discipline is also experiencing a severe worker shortage. While these shortages are not new, the Covid-19 pandemics unprecedented wave of tech adoption for virtually all industries further exacerbated the problem.
According to CompTIA’s 2021 Workforce and Learning Trends report, 40% of companies hired tech staff during the pandemic, and 66% have plans to add more in 2021. One answer is to supplement your in-house IT staff with external workers or companies which provide tech services on a fractional basis with hourly rates or flat fees.
